2008 Residential Master Course with Sarah Walker CBE

Oxford Lieder is delighted to welcome back world-renowned mezzo-soprano Sarah Walker CBE to lead the second annual residential Master Course for advanced students during the second week of this year's Lieder Festival. Sarah Walker has been involved with Oxford Lieder for several years; her masterclasses are renowned the world over, and it is a great pleasure and a privilege to host this special week once more. The Master Course caters for 10 singer-pianist duos who will be resident in the city from 17 – 23 October for an exhilarating week of coaching as well as access to the full programme of Festival concerts. Applications are encouraged from all over the world, making this a truly special event for participants and supporters alike. Classes will take place throughout the day on 18 – 22 October inclusive at the North Wall Arts Centre on South Parade and in the Music Department of St Edward's School, with classes open to the public on 19th, 20th, and 21st October. The course will culminate in an evening concert given by the participants as part of the Festival series in the Holywell Music Room, Oxford’s foremost chamber music venue, on Wednesday 22 October. Sarah Walker will be joined by three visiting tutors for three diverse days of coaching on various facets of song performance. (19th, 20th, 21st) We are excited to welcome pianist Julius Drake, and Eugene Asti, and Visiting Professor of Lieder at the Royal Academy of Music, Richard Stokes.
