2007 Residential Mastercourse with Sarah Walker CBE
21st – 25th October
Oxford Lieder is delighted to announce that world-renowned mezzo-soprano Sarah Walker CBE will be leading a residential mastercourse for advanced students throughout the second week of this year’s Lieder Festival. Sarah Walker has been involved with Oxford Lieder for several years; her masterclasses are renowned the world over and it is a great pleasure and privilege that she will be leading this inaugural course, which we hope will be a primary feature of the Festival in years to come.
Classes will take place throughout the day on 21st – 24th October inclusive at the new North Wall Arts Centre on South Parade and in the Music Department of St Edward’s School. All classes will be open to the public (free of charge) and the course will culminate in a concert given by the participants as part of the Festival series on Thursday 26th. Applications are expected from all over the world and given that, in order to ensure that each singer-pianist duo receives ample coaching time, we will only be accepting ten duos the standard of participants is sure to be exceptionally high.
Sarah Walker will also be joined on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th by some well-known pianists, including a day of coaching given by Roger Vignoles. On these days, two classes will run concurrently, one in the North Wall, one in the Music School. A detailed timetable of public classes will be posted here soon.
