Adrian Lowe

Tenor

After being a Choral Scholar at Liverpool's Metropolitan Cathedral, and a Lay Clerk at Manchester Cathedral, in 2000, Adrian was appointed Lay Clerk at Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford under Stephen Darlington. In his time in Oxford he has travelled widely with both the Cathedral Choir, and also as a consort singer, most notably to New Zealand performing solo recitals and concerts with The Clerks of Christ Church in Christchurch and Dunedin to great critical acclaim. He is currently a Lay Clerk at St. Margaret's Church, Westminster Abbey, the Parliamentary Church.

In his freelance career Adrian has sung with ensembles such as The Brabant Ensemble, The Oxford Camerata, European Voices, The Euterpe Baroque Consort, Huelgas Ensemble, I Fagiolini, The Musicall Compass, The Netherlands Bach Society, The New London Consort, Polyphony, The Sixteen, Tenebrae and Voces Sacrae working with conductors including Harry Christophers, Mark Elder, Nicholas Kraemer, Stephen Layton, Kurt Masur, Andrew Parrott, Philip Pickett, Paul van Nevel, Sir Simon Rattle, Jeremy Summerly and Jos van Veldhoven.

Adrian can be heard on recordings that display an impressive versatility from Monteverdi, Byrd, Purcell, Tallis and Duruflé to Bainton, Britten, Howells, Harris, Parry, Poulenc and Villette.

His solo repertoire includes a variety of music from Purcell's Dido and Aeneas to Bach's St. John and St. Matthew Passions (both Evangelist and tenor soloist roles) and Christmas Oratorio (Evangelist), B Minor Mass and Magnificat, to Handel's Messiah, Judas Maccabeus; Mozart's Requiem; Mendelssohn's Elijah and A Hymn of Praise; Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb and A Hymn to St. Cecilia, Dvorák's Mass in D Major and Stabat Mater, Pärt's Passio Domini Nostri Jesu Christi Secundum Joannem.

Recent engagements include: Concerts in Belgium with The Brabant Ensemble (October), Handel's Carmelite Vespers in Belgium with The Euterpe Baroque Consort (October), Fauré's Requiem and Gille's Messe des Morts in The Netherlands with The Netherlands Bach Society (November), Concert - Benjamin Britten and his Legacy with The Choir of New College, Oxford in Christ Church, Spitalfields (December), Handel's Messiah in The Sheldonian Theatre with The Choir of New College, Oxford (December), Tour of Italy and The Netherlands with The Choir of New College, Oxford (December), Handel's Messiah in St John's Smith Square with Polyphony (December), Bach's St Matthew Passion with The Netherlands Bach Society (April 2006).
