DAME HARRIET WALTER has enjoyed a varied and distinguished career on stage screen and radio spanning 30 years. Most recently she appeared as Brutus in the all-female Julius Caesar at the Donmar Theater. She is an associate artist of the RSC where she has played most roles from Viola and Beatrice to Lady Macbeth and Cleopatra as well as regularly appearing with the NT and in the West End.

She received the Olivier award for Twelfth Night and Three Sisters and the Evening Standard award for her role as Elizabeth 1 in Mary Stuart.  Her films include The Wedding Video, The Young Victoria, Sense and Sensibility, Atonement and Babel.

On television she is best known as Harriet Vane in the Lord Peter Wimsey series, The Price, The Men’s Room, Little Dorritt and Law and Order:UK.  She is the author of Other People’s Shoes and Facing It. She has taken part in many recitals with classical music performers which brings together her two principle loves; music and language.
