Daniel Parkin

Daniel graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in 2000, where he was awarded an MMus in performance with a distinction in his recital work, and an LRAM. In 1998 he gained his BMus (Hons) at the University of Manchester where he won the Proctor-Gregg Award for an outstanding performance.

Daniel has subsequently played with the Royal Ballet Sinfonia, Britten Sinfonia, Southbank Sinfonia, and has been guest principal flute with D'Oyly Carte Opera at the Savoy. He is currently principal flute with the Britten-Pears Orchestra. He has also appeared at the Edinburgh, Aldeburgh and Deal Festivals and has broadcast for BBC Radio 3. Solo work has taken in concertos with numerous orchestras and recitals around the country.

In 2000 Daniel won the Lincolnshire Young Musician Competition and in 2002 won the Anglo-Czech Music Trust Competition, which led to a recital in the Martinu Hall, Prague. In March 2004 the National Federation of Music Societies named him a Recommended Artist.

Daniel has studied with Michael Cox, Kate Hill and Colin Chambers and has participated in many masterclasses, most recently with Mathieu Dufour (Chicago Symphony Orchestra) as part of the Lucerne Festival, and with Emily Beynon (Royal Concertgebouw) in Aldeburgh.
