David Stout
A former Head Chorister of Westminster Abbey under Simon Preston, David spent his formative years in Uppingham and Mafikeng, South Africa. Subsequently, he studied Zoology at Durham University, sang with the choir of St. John's College, Cambridge and currently studies on the Opera Course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Rudolf Piernay.
Whilst at the Guildhall he has performed the roles of Falstaff, Don Cassandro La Finta Semplice, Ladinsky A Comedy on a Bridge, Ulisse Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria and the Opera Director Les Mamelles de Tirésias. For British Youth Opera: Forester The Cunning Little Vixen and Guglielmo Così fan tutte. Other roles include Giorgio Germont La Traviata, Conte Almaviva Le Nozze di Figaro, Eugene Onegin, Scarpia Tosca, Belcore The Elixir of Love, Escamillo Carmen, Ankerström Masked Ball, Prince Yeletsky Queen of Spades, Hardy Nelson, Captain Corcoran HMS Pinafore and Giuseppe The Gondoliers.
His extensive oratorio repertoire includes Bach St. John and St. Matthew Passion and B Minor Mass , The Messiah, Judas Maccabaeus, The Creation, Elijah, Rossini Stabat Mater, Verdi Requiem, Carmina Burana, Sea Symphony (Bach Choir), The Dream of Gerontius, Belshazzar's Feast and A Child of Our Time.
As a recitalist, David has performed a variety of works from Songs of Travel to Des Knaben Wunderhorn with pianist, Annabel Thwaite as well as Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen and Julian Philips' Swift Partitions with the Orchestra of the Swan.
Plans include Verdi Requiem with Stephen Cleobury, Bach B Minor Mass (Nottingham Harmonic), Messiah in Wells Cathedral, Carmina Burana in both Singen, Germany and Snape Maltings and a world premiere of Masque for Caliban by Julian Philips for the Three Choirs Festival. Opera engagements include the title role of Gianni Schicchi as well asMarullo Rigoletto for Opera Holland Park and Papageno Die Zauberflöte for Grange Park Opera.
