Elena Lorimer

Soprano

Elena Lorimer read music at Magdalen College, Oxford, where she was awarded the Domingos Vasconcellos Scholarship for Performance and also took the degree of Master of Philosophy in Performance. In 2002 she completed a Ph.D. at Goldsmiths College, London, on seventeenth-century French solo vocal music. Elena has a broad oratorio, lieder and mélodie repertoire and gives regular recitals in Oxford and London. She has worked in masterclasses with, amongst others, Sir Thomas Allen, David Wilson-Johnson, Teresa Cahill and Anne Dawson. Most recently she has worked with Graham Vick in New Chamber Opera workshops on Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin (Tatyana) and Mozart's Così fan tutte (Dorabella). Opera roles include the title role in Ravel's L'Enfant et les sortilèges, Pamina (Mozart, The Magic Flute), Cherubino (Mozart, Le nozze di Figaro), Vivian (Krenek, What Price Confidence?), Sofia (Rossini, Il Signor Bruschino), Madame Popova (Walton, The Bear) and Dorabella (Mozart, Così fan tutte). Elena studies with Sheila Barnes.
