Elizabeth Stone
Elizabeth Stone studied at the Royal College of Music with Steven Doane. Previously she won Leverhulme Scholarships to attend the Purcell School and the RCM Junior Department. She has enjoyed masterclasses with many leading cellists, including Steven Isserlis, Alexander Baillie and Karine Georgian.
Elizabeth was a founder member of the Tavec String Quartet and with them won numerous prizes, including the RCM's Helen Just string quartet prize, the Rio Tinto prize and the Miller Trophy in the Royal Over-Seas League Competition, and the Net 4 prize in the Bristol Millennium Chamber Music Competition.
The quartet most notably gave recitals at the Wigmore Hall, the Queen Elizabeth Hall, St. Martin-in-the-fields, St. James's Piccadilly, St. George's Bristol, the Serpentine Gallery in the BBC Proms series, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the Cheltenham Festival and the Lower Wye Valley Chamber Music Festival. They were also lucky to be part of the Countess of Munster Trust Recital Scheme and the Aix-en-Provence Festival String Quartet Academy.
Elizabeth has since studied the Alexander Technique at The Alexander Technique Studio in Wandsworth. These days she divides her time between performing in various London-based groups and teaching both the cello and the Alexander Technique.
