A graduated of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, Jean-Yves Cornet took tuition classes with Yevgenia Yarmonenko, who was on her part student of Alexander Goldenveiser and Heinrich Neuhaus, both founders of the great Russian piano school. Then Jean-Yves Cornet specialised in song accompaniment and was involved in divers’ opera productions in Belgium and in France. Jean-Yves Cornet is a laureate of several piano competitions in Belgium and has also given concerts in Europe and Latin America. In addition he has accompanied many well-known choirs in Belgium, amongst others the Brussels Choral Society. Having been engaged as a teaching assistant as well as an accompanist at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in the past, he is presently following a master degree in piano accompaniment with Sir Graham Johnson at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
