Julie Andkjaer Olsen
While studying at the specialist music school Sct. Annae Gymnasium in Copenhagen Julie won prizes in the Berlingske and Steinway competitions. Later she went on to the Royal Academy of Music, where she took her diploma, specialising in accompaniment, studying with Bohumila Jedlickova, Tove Lønskov and Niklas Sivelöv.
In recent years Julie has developed her interest in accompaning lieder, participating in master classes with artists such as Malcolm Martineau, Rudolf Jansen and Helmut Deutsch. Julie often performs as a soloist and is a busy recitalist, often introducing surprising new lied concert concepts using elements from theatre, dance and litterature.
Concerts include the complete Wolf Mörike lieder in the highly profiled venue Rundetaarn Concert Hall, Schumann op. 24 in Tivoli Concert Hall, Brahms op. 32 in the Danish National Radio Concert Hall and a radio broadcast concert from Plex Music Theatre in Copenhagen.
Apart from playing the piano, Julie is an active flamenco dancer performing all around Denmark with her group Flamenco Sin Fronteras.
