Mae Heydorn

Mezzo-Soprano

"Mae Heydorn was born in Linköping, Sweden in 1984 and grew up in Stuttgart, Germany.  

Since 2004 Mae studied singing with Karin Bengtsdotter-Olsson at Kapellsbergs Musikskola,Härnö-sand,Sweden.  

In 2006 she was accepted into the second year at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London where she continues her singing studies with Rudolf Piernay and Susan Waters. 

Mae is a musician for Live Music Now! with her duo-partner, pianist Diana Brekalo. The Heydorn/Brekalo duo recently reached the finals in a Liedduo competition in the Netherlands. They have also participated as part of the Europäisches Musikfest in Stuttgart in a masterclass with tenor Christoph Prégardien in September, which they won a scholarship for.  

In 2008 Mae performed as part of LSO’s Rachmaninoff Discovery Day in St. Luke’s church and sung parts of the programme in a pre-concert at the Barbican Hall. She has also given a recital in Holywell Hall at the Oxford Lieder Festival with pianist Nico de Villiers and baritone Nicola Simeha. In September she is competing in the International Wigmore Hall Song Competition with pianist Jean-Paul Pruna.  

In June-July Mae is singing the role of Countess Ceprano in Clonter Opera’s production of Rigoletto.

In August she is giving a recital at the Musiciènnes à Ouessant festival in France with pianist Fériel Kaddour. (www.musiciennesaouessant.com, mae.heydorn@gmail.com)
