Martin Häßler
Martin Häßler, winner of the first prize at Bundeswettbewerb Gesang Berlin (Junior), second prize at Thomas Quasthoff's Das Lied, International Song competition and Best Singer's Award at Gerald Moore Competition London is currently continuing his vocal studies as a full scholarship awardee at Guildhall School of Music and Drama London with Prof. Rudolf Piernay.
After getting his first musical experiences by taking part in several opera productions as a choir singer at Theater Plauen-Zwickau in his hometown he started studying at Hochschule für Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Leipzig with Prof. Jürgen Kurth at the age of 17. In 2009/10 he continued his vocal studies at Guildhall School supported by an Erasmus exchange scholarship. He took part in masterclasses with Graham Johnson, Martin Katz, Rudolf Piernay, Gerald Finley and recently at Franz Schubert Institute Baden (Austria) with Elly Ameling, Robert Holl, Barbara Bonney and Helmut Deutsch.
In 2009 he was a prize winner at Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg and sang Collatinus in Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia, he also appeared in this production at Theater Gera-Altenburg and Opera Festival Miskolc (Hungary). He also sang bass and baritone solos in Bach's St. Matthew's, St. John's Passion and Christmas Oratorio, Haydn's Stabat Mater and Nelson Mass, Mozart's Requiem, Schumann’s Des Sängers Fluch Brahms' German Requiem and recently Siegfried in Schumann’s Genoveva at Tonhalle Düsseldorf and Beethoven’s Ninth. In June 2011 he sang two Liszt recitals at Klavierfestival Ruhr with Graham Johnson.
