Miranda Westcott

Mezzo-Soprano

Miranda read music at Birmingham University. Her studies continued privately with Jacqueline Bremar before attending the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She gained a distinction on the M.Mus course in 2005 (with Robert Dean as her teacher) and became a Samling Scholar in 2009.  Miranda is now studying under Dennis O’Neill’s at the Cardiff International Academy of Voice.

Miranda made her debut at the Royal Opera House in June 2006 as Second Bridesmaid (Figaro) under Sir Colin Davis and in 2007 sang Glasha (Katya Kabanova) under Sir Charles Makerras. Other roles include Cherubino, Suzuki and Olga, working with companies including British Youth Opera, Garsington, Grange Park and the Salzburg Easter Festival.

In concert Miranda has appeared at the Wigmore Hall, in the Crush Room series at the Royal Opera House, The Sage Gateshead, Hoddinott Hall – Wales Millennium Centre, Shakespeare’s Globe, The Handel House Museum and Canterbury Cathedral as well as private galas in Montreux, Lake Como, Vienna, Budapest and Bratislava.

Future performances include extracts from Tarik O’Regan’s new opera (Heart of Darkness) in April at the Linbury Studio Theatre, Royal Opera House and Rossweise (Die Walküre) with Longborough Festival Opera this summer.
