Soprano

Raised in Northumberland with qualifications from Durham and London Universities and Trinity College of Music, Susan is a versatile singer, winning critical praise for her ‘immaculate diction and strong dramatic sense’ and ‘rich, warm sound’. Part of the original group of musicians who founded the Oxford Lieder Festival, she has worked with the pianists Julius Drake, Lindy Tennent-Brown, Alisdair Hogarth and Sholto Kynoch.  More recently, she has formed a musical partnership with Iain Farrington and together they have a burgeoning reputation for creative programming.

As a regular soloist with the Choir of Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford and London Musici, she has performed both Passions by Bach, Haydn Stabat Mater and Mozart Requiem.  Amongst other concert appearances are Handel Messiah, Dixit Dominus, Haydn The Creation, Nelson Mass, Mozart Exsultate jubilate, Mass in C Minor, Beethoven Mass in C Brahms ein Deutsches Requiem and Poulenc Gloria. 

Susan’s operatic experience encompasses Chorus Tosca (Raymond Gubbay Productions), Chorus La Traviata and Lamore dei tre Re (Montemezzi) (Opera Holland Park), Micaela/Carmen (Dragon Opera), Lucy/The Telephone, Countess/Le comte Ory (New Chamber Opera) and, in excerpts, Helena/Midsummer Nights Dream, Anne Trulove/The Rakes Progress and Pamina/die Zauberflote.

Future engagements include Susanna/Le Nozze di Figaro, Vaughan Williams A Sea Symphony in Tewkesbury Abbey, Carmina Burana in Coventry, Brigitta (cover)/Iolanta by Tchaikovsky for Opera Holland Park and Chorus/Boris Godunov (ENO).
