Ciara Hendrick


Ciara Hendrick studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and Strasbourg Opera Studio. Recent engagements include Fortuna/Valetto in The Coronation of Poppea, Opera North (c. Laurence Cummings), La Messaggera in Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo in Venice with I Fagiolini, Aréthuse in Charpentier’s Actéon with the Early Opera Company and Bach’s B Minor Mass at St John’s, Smith Square.

Recording credits include Bach’s Christmas Oratorio with the Dunedin Consort (due for release 2016), the role of Venus in the world premier recording of Pepusch’s opera, Venus and Adonis, Juno in Daniel Purcell’s The Judgement of Paris with Spiritato and the title track of Oscar nominated film Incendies with the LSO.

In demand as a recitalist, highlights include a recital for the National Gallery’s Facing the Modern exhibition with Sholto Kynoch, a recital in honour of Handel’s 330th birthday at Handel House and Britten’s Cabaret Songs with Libby Burgess for the Oxford Lieder Festival.

As one of their Emerging Singers, engagements with the Early Opera Company include Médée Furieuse at the Almeida Theatre featuring Bernier’s cantata and excerpts from Charpentier’s opera and Hermia in Purcell’s Fairy Queen at Iford.

Named one of their season’s rising stars, Ciara sang Daniel in Handel’s Susanna with Laurence Cummings for the Göttingen Handel Festival, Haydn’s Stabat Mater at Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford and a series of concerts for the London and Göttingen Handel Festivals with Repicco.

Future plans include Bach’s Mass in B Minor with Sir Roger Norrington, a tour of the UK and Europe with I Fagiolini and Bach’s St John Passion with Mark Padmore at the Barbican.
