Josephine Goddard

Soprano


Josephine is a British Soprano who recently won second prize at the Kathleen Ferrier Awards. She graduated this year from the Royal College of Music International Opera School and is currently studying with Dinah Harris.

Josephine’s other recent successes include winning the Worshipful Company of Musician's Silver Medal for outstanding achievement and service to the RCM, second prize in the RCM Schumann Competition, a Help Musicians UK Licette Award and first prize in the RCM Lieder competition.

She is regularly in demand as a soloist at many prestigious venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall and Cadogan Hall. She recently took part in the Georg Solti Accademia di Bel Canto and worked there with Barbara Frittoli, Jonathan Papp, Massimo Giordano and Richard Bonynge.

She has taken part in a number of masterclasses with eminent performers including Sarah Connolly, Toby Spence, Felicity Lott, Wolfgang Holzmair and also with Ian Partridge as part of the Oxford Lieder Festival where she was covering a recital of Schubert Lieder.

Operatic roles include: Angel (Seven Angels OperArt, V&A) Ella (In the Locked Room RCMIOS); Helena (A Midsummer Night's Dream RCMIOS); Forester's Wife/Owl (The Cunning Little Vixen RCMIOS); Adolfo (Faramondo London Handel Festival); Sandrina (La finta giardiniera RCMIOS); Governess (Turn of the Screw Rye Arts Festival); Cretan Woman (Idomeneo Garsington Opera cover); Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus RCMIOS); Cathleen (Riders to the Sea British Youth Opera); Hannah (The Merry Widow Ryedale Festival Opera cover) and Amor (L’incoronazione di Poppea ETO cover).
