Alessandro Fisher is a former Oxford Lieder Young Artist and current BBC New Generation Artist. He and prize-winning pianist Ashok Gupta present songs by Clara Schumann as well as Robert Schumann’s settings of Heine in his Liederkreis Op.24. They also include Schumann settings of Eduard Mörike, ahead of our afternoon study event exploring this fascinating and significant poet, and this evening's concert.
TenorWinner of First Prize at the 2016 Kathleen Ferrier Awards and an Associate Artist of Classical Opera, Alessandro Fisher joined the BBC New Generation Artist Scheme in September 2018. A graduate of London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Alessandro Fisher read Modern and Medieval Languages at Cambridge, where he was a Choral Scholar at Clare College. PianistBritish pianist Ashok Gupta (b.1988) studied at Cambridge University, the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Ashok is the recipient of the Chamber Music Prize in the Bonn International Beethoven Competition, the Kerr Memorial Prize in London’s Royal Overseas League Competition, and the Accompanist’s Prize in the Kathleen Ferrier Competition.
