Roderick Williams begins his residency at the Festival, which will include three concerts, a talk and a masterclass, performing Schubert’s great cycle Die schöne Müllerin in Jeremy Sams’s sparkling English translation. Before this, rising-star mezzo-soprano Marta Fontanals-Simmons gives the world premiere of The Tuning, a new cycle by the acclaimed Scottish composer Martin Suckling, setting the poetry of Michael Donaghy.

Martin Suckling (b. 1981)
BaritoneRoderick Williams is active in the opera house, on the concert platform and in recital, encompassing a repertoire from the baroque to world premieres. In 2016 he won the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Singer of the year award. PianistChristopher Glynn is a Grammy award-winning pianist and accompanist, working with leading singers, instrumentalists and ensembles in concerts, broadcasts and recordings throughout the world.
