10. Claire Booth & Christopher Glynn: Mussorgsky & Rimsky-Korsakov
16 October 2022, 11:45 - 12:45
Concert

This recital explores one of the closest of friendships between composers. Mussorgsky and Rimsky-Korsakov were both part of the ‘Mighty Handful’ of Russian composers: they lived together as young men and Mussorgsky was Rimsky-Korsakov’s best man. Claire Booth and Christopher Glynn perform songs and piano works by both composers, including parts of Mussorgsky’s The Nursery, alongside early Debussy songs that were heavily influenced by the Russian composers.
Claire and Chris's recording of Mussorgsky songs was given five stars in The Guardain and described as 'a joy, brilliantly conceived and presented with tremendous panache'. Not a recital to miss!
