7pm: pre-concert talk given by Richard Wigmore (free)

Our Schubert weekend concludes with Schubert’s “Swan song”, a collection of settings of Heine and Rellstab, put together by his publisher after his death. Schwanengesang contains some of Schubert's finest songs, including the dramatic "Der Atlas" and extraordinarily haunting "Der Doppelgänger".

Tonight's programme also includes the glorious Auf dem Strom, for tenor, horn and piano. Daniel Norman has sung at many Oxford Lieder concerts and concludes his own cycle of Schubert cycles at the Festival with this performance.

The Schubert weekend features every song Schubert wrote from Die schöne Müllerin in 1823 to the end of his life in 1828 in nine recitals from 14th - 16th October.
