7pm (free): Pre-concert talk given by Richard Stokes

The French soprano Sandrine Piau is acclaimed throughout the world for her performances of opera and song alike. She and leading accompanist Roger Vignoles open the Festival with a selection of French song, including Debussy’s Ariettes oublieés in this his 150th anniversary, as well as songs by Strauss, Fauré, Poulenc and Chausson. A perfect way to begin the 2012 Lieder Festival.
