Settings of Heinrich Heine
Music by Schumann and Schubert

The 2015 Festival closes with two of the world’s great song artists performing some of the greatest song repertoire. Heinrich Heine inspired many composers, but perhaps no fruits of this inspiration are better known and loved than Schubert’s settings (that formed part of Schwanengesang) and Schumann’s Dichterliebe. Christoph Prégardien and Roger Vignoles also include Mahler’s famous settings of his own texts, Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen. In closing the concert with Dichterliebe they we both look ahead to The Schumann Project in 2016 and enjoy a perfect finale to this year's Lieder Festival.
