John Warren introduces painters including Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller and Schubert's friend Moritz von Schwind. This talk takes place at 11.30am in the Ashmolean Museum's lecture theatre.
During the day, watch out for pop-up performances of Schubert songs with guitar in the Musical Instruments and Tapestry Gallery at the Ashmolean. There is evidence that Schubert played the guitar and sometimes composed with it in mind. Christina Haldane and Ahmed Dickinson Cárdenas present a short group of songs, repeated at intervals during the day and surrounded by historic instruments.
