Matthew Winterbottom, Curator of Sculpture and Decorative Arts at the Ashmolean Museum, explores the Museum’s Britain and Italy Gallery, where a large part of the collection was acquired by people on the Grand Tour.

Matthew has over 25 years’ experience working with and researching European decorative arts of the 16th-21th centuries. He started his career at the Victoria & Albert Museum as an Assistant Curator in the Metalwork and the Furniture and Woodwork Departments. This was followed by 7 years as Assistant Curator of Decorative Arts at the Royal Collection.
