Tumulte (1949) no.4

Part of a series or song cycle:

Plupart du temps I

Tumulte

Tumult

The crowd descended more swiftly and uttering cries. They all came from the back, from behind the trees, from behind the wood of the house.
Each white face was animated – and the heavier words faded in their footsteps.
At the sound that was made in the darkest corner everything stopped, everyone stopped, even the eyes of the man turned towards the wall.
And then, because of the wind, the flowers of the tapestry and the fabric stirred.
