Pesenka medvedya ('The bear's little song')
(1917)
Part of a series or song cycle:
Three Children's Tales
Pesenka medvedya ('The bear's little song')
Skripi, noga,
Skripi, lipovaja!
I voda spit,
I zemlja-to spit,
I po selam spjat,
Po derevnjam spjat;
Odna baba ne spit,
Moju šerstku prjadet,
Moe mjaso varit,
Moju kožu sušit.
The bear's little song
Creak, little paw,
Creak, lilac paw!
The water sleeps,
And the earth too,
People are asleep in the hamlets,
In the villages they are asleep:
Just one old woman is not asleep,
She is sinning my fur,
Boiling my meat,
And drying my skin.
