Ich drücke dein liebe Hand

Part of a series or song cycle:

7 Karst-Lieder

Ich drücke dein liebe Hand

Du siehst die leichten Schwalben wohl,
den grauen Turm umkreisen?
'S weiß keine, wie es werden soll,
das wird die Zukunft weisen.
Ein leichter Windhauch zieht durch's Land,
und mahnt auch mich ans Gehen,
ich drücke deine liebe Hand,
leb' wohl, auf Wiedersehn!

I press your beloved hand

Can you see the nimble swallows
Flitting round the grey tower?
None of them knows what is to come,
Only the future will know.
A light breeze drifts across the land
And warns me that I should leave;
I press your beloved hand,
Farewell, goodbye!
